It’s never too early to start reading! As soon as a child start to interact with the world, he/she will be interested in… simply everything. So why not try to foster the love of reading from this (very) early age?
Books You Can Read, Touch… and Eat!
For a newborn or a toddler, a book is a multisensory experience. It’s not just about reading it with an adult. They’ll be happy to learn how to turn the thick pages and discover colors, numbers, pictures and letters.
Kids usually have their favourite books, the ones that they like to read over and over. It’s a fun way to learn, so it’s important that the adult makes an effort to encourage the child in this activity.
It’s better to choose publications made of safe, durable, non toxic materials. Most kids will not only read these books, but may eventually decide to chew on them to discover what they taste like! Here’s a short list of some titles to inspire you:
- Dear Zoo: Lift The Flaps (by Rod Campbell)
- Pirate Pete’s Potty (by Andrea Pinnington)
- Who’s Playing Outdoors – Magic Bath Books (By Kate Smiths Designs)
